Wow!!! What a day!
This was the moment the children were told about the mysterious disaster on the school field...
Obviously the children were puzzled and very concerned!!!
Mrs. Evans reassured them that the rest of the school had been given the all clear, so we were safe to stay in school!
Unfortunately, the Bury Times were unable to send a reporter to the scene of the disaster so Mrs Evans asked if all the children in KS2 could write a newspaper report. They collected quotes and eagerly set about the task!!
They produced wonderful written reports!!
Just before lunch, we revealed....
It wasn't really a disaster...
But an augmented reality App! :-)

when we were told there was a big hole in the field i was terrified because it had never happened before. I didn't think it was a joke as it looked so real. when we were told it was a joke i was cross because they had tricked us
ReplyDeleteSamantha
Oh dear - you've still not forgiven me?!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone watch Ant & Dec last night? There was a teacher who had similarly tricked her class (to inspire their writing too!). They got her back on the show! haha It was funny!
This kind of thing is called a 'hook' rather than a trick. It is not meant to upset or annoy anyone (I would never intentionally want to hurt you!!). It is meant to start a topic in an exciting way or to inspire learning.... and it worked!
PLEASE now forgive me (you will look back at this in a few years and laugh - I'm sure!). If anyone had been really upset I would have taken them to the side and explained what was happening. I didn't do it to upset anyone and I'm sure you all know how much I care about you all.

The school disaster would not only have been a disaster to the school but it would also have been a disaster to my home as that is my house in the background!! It has made me realise how disasters can happen so suddenly and the effect it can have on people's lives. Dylan
