Literacy - Stig of the Dump

Our new literacy unit coincides with our Stone Age topic. We are reading the classic childrens book 'Stig of the Dump' by Clive King. Children are enjoying finding out about Barney's adventures in the cave with Stig! This week they looked for adjectives in the text and wrote descriptive paragraphs about Stig's cave. They also practised using commas to separate items in a list (they had to list items that you could find in the cave and then items that you definitely wouldn't find). We had some great responses like the Crown Jewels and an Xbox 360!

Children are motivated to work hard during writing tasks and they know that work of a very good standard or effort might be selected to be read to the rest of the class whilst sitting on the storytellors chair! Keep working hard - it could be you next!...
