Conscience Corridor - The School Curriculum

In PSHE children were given a super platform for speaking and listening using 'Conscience Corridor'. The activity provided a great opportunity for children to discuss and debate a topical issue, put forward arguments, listen to others and make informed decisions.

The debate was 'The School Curriculum'.

Some children were selected to be a headteacher. They had to decide whether the children should be taught mostly literacy and maths or spend more time learning through art, drake, sport, technology, etc.

Key questions used to provoke discussion were...

Which skills are the most important for the world of work?

Do we all need to learn the same things?

What do we need to learn in order to become good citizens, friends or parents?

Do we learn maths and literacy only in maths and literacy lessons?

How can teachers ensure that every child's special talents are recognised?

It would be great for children, parents and blog visitors to give their opinion on some of the questions above! Remember children - write in full sentences and check your spelling and punctuation before you post a longer comment. Thank you.
